| Wonderful 1930s/1940s card game "Brelisha" named after the Minister for Transport, Leslie Hore-Belisha (who is remembered for introducing Belisha Beacons to our roads). 52 beautifully illustrated cards based on the game of rummy, designed as "A Helpful Contribution to the 'Safety First Campaign". Wonderful graphics, tourist marks and scenes from around the country, motoring scenes, road safety. Comes complete with box and rules in very good condition. Fascinating vintage fun! |
| Rolling Pins at the ready - two booklets from Stork Margarine Cookery service to help you with your party food. 1949 edition of Party Recipes is a 26 page booklet full of recipes for party food - sausage rolls, sandwiches (with a distinctly 1940s style!), cakes, buns, blancmanges, and our favourite, almond paste using mashed potato powder!). Booklet is coming away slightly from staples, some creasing to edges and small tear to base of spine on cover. "Cakes For All Occasions" will solve all those baking dilemmas with recipes for birthday cakes, weddings, mother's day, valentine's day and our favourite, the crinoline lady cake. Also contains recipes for small cakes too. A 16 page booklet published in 1952. Both reflect a post-war England dealing with a scarcity of ingredients and rationning, fascinating and useful! | A tea party with a twist. This cheeky chimpanzee tea party poster is from a series of vintage posters published for schools in the 1940's. This is Number 41. in the series 'The Chimpanzee's Tea Party'. The poster measures 34.4 cm x 36 cm. In lovely condition save for a small bit of creasing on the right margin and a small brown stain in the left hand corner margin. This would look fabulous framed! |

These three delightful 1950's paper party hats are illustrated with our favourite nursery rhyme characters Humpty Dumpty, Little Jack Horner and Hey Diddle Diddle. Made by Selcraft Products, Brooklyn. N.Y.C. A rare and lovely find for a collector of paper ephemera. There are some creases and flaws to these hats but overall they are in good shape for paper goods from this era. This is for three hats in total. |
| These silk embroidered postcards are known as WW1 postcards and were first produced in 1914 through 1918 and declined substantially in 1919 onwards until ending around 1923. They were hand embroidered by French women in real silk threads and generally were not stamped as they were sent home in mailbags during the war to sweethearts and family back home. This is a pretty embroidered postcard of pansy, roses and a little bluebird with the words 'TO MY DEAR SISTER'. The inscription on the back in pencil says 'From Frank with Love' - 'Cheereo & keep smiling'. Both poignant and pretty. There is some slight foxing to the silk backing and back of postcard. |

| Absolutely charming vintage 1950s Victory plywood jigsaw puzzle featuring a delightful birthday party scene. Children sitting around the table awaiting their birthday tea, so lovely and nostalgic. 100 pieces in P3 series with an original cost of 4 shillings and 11 pennies! The puzzle measures approx 22cm x 17cm and the colours and conditin are very good. One of the pieces has a very slight nick missing from it (please see photos), this does not detract from the puzzle and cannot really be noticed unless under close scrutiny. Puzzle comes with original box which is also in good condition for age. Time to make a wish and blow out those candles... |
