A very pretty slik (silk effect fabric) pouch with a lovely image on the front of a crinoline lady in her garden surrounded by hollyhocks, delphiniums and other flowers. The colours are still very bright for its age too. The pouch is open on one side, maybe for keeping hankies or other lingerie items and is edges with lace trim. The other side of the pouch is plain, but has a few marks on it, presumably from age and storage. This is such a pretty item and would look lovely on a dressing table, perfect size for storing hankies, letters or postcards. Measures approx 20cm x 13cm. |

A very pretty white cotton vintage French blouse. In good condition for age too. Lovely detail to collar and cuffs in a pretty flower cut design reminiscent of broderie anglaise. There are a series of pin tuck pleats falling gently from the collar and the sleeves are slightly gathered at the wrist and then fall in loose flounces to the decorated cuffs. This appears to be on the small size, probably fitting a teenage girl or a very small size 8. It measures approx 31cm across the shoulders, 58cm from top shoulder seam to bottom of cuff, 48cm from underarm seam to bottom of cuff, 54cm from top of blouse to bottom hem (it seems quite short and flares out gently, so it is loose fitting). In crisp white cotton with white buttons, in overall good condition for age, it just has a couple of tiny marks, one on front hem and the other at the bottom of the back (they both measure about 1cm and are not very noticeable at all). This would look equally lovely hanging on a bedroom wall.
This is a lovely little vintage handmade hat in green tweed. Very much in the style of a Juliet Cap which were very fashionable in the 1940s, worn at the back of the head with the tassle dangling down. This is embellished with a green tassle to swing from the cap at the back of your head. The hat is small and just perches on the back of the head, or alternatively could be used as a child's hat. It measures approx 20cm in diameter and is therefore quite petite. In good condition for age.
"Etiquette For Ladies" published by Ward Lock & Co (1920s/early 1930s). "A Guide To The Observances Of Good Society". This is a gem! A wonderful guide for ladies - tips on following the correct etiquette in every social situation - from being presented at Court to Royalty, to Country House Parties, tips, dealing with servants, attending receptions, playing tennis and croquet and the art of letter writing amongst others. Our favourite is "The Courteous Motorist" - tips on how to dress when motoring, how to avoid 'ostentatious noise' and a reminder to take your goggles when going on a long journey! Book is in overall good condition for age, contents bright and tight but there is foxing to many of the pages. Anyone for tennis?

A pair of 1930s wooden and metal shoe stretchers which have been covered in smoky rose coloured velvet by the original owner. The dusky pink hue of the fabric suits perfectly the stretcher and one can imagine the wonderful satin covered evening shoes it might have been used to stretch ... The fabric is showing signs of age and stitching and is not as bright as it might have been, but this,we think, adds to its vintage charm. Perfect for display or use if your shoes are as teeny tiny as they were in '30s.
Lovely pair of c1930s wooden and metal shoe stretchers. Just look how tiny and narrow those shoes were! This pair is in good condition for age (they were covered in fabric which had partly disintegrated, but the fabric seems to have protected them). These are wonderful display items for the boudoir, or can be painted, recovered in fabric for craft projects etc.
